What is « innamoramento »?
« Innamoramento » is a term from Italian poet Petrarch from the 14th century in his « Canzoniere » for Laura. It expresses the sudden rush of love, the ecstatic love at first sight, the ultimate surrender to a woman without necessarily knowing her, feeling without reflection and appearance.
Innamoramento is about giving, giving everything, being in the agony of silences, unspoken words, and sighs. Ronsard echoed this. Above all, the term defines courtly love, the first love of Yvain for Laudine in the novel by Chrétien de Troyes from 1176. Innamoramento disregards morality and tradition and was put into song by minstrels and troubadours.
