L and J Love Poetry: A Gypsy♥️
During my adolescence, on the way to high school,
A Gypsy took a liking to me and read my destiny
In the lines of my hand, she made sentimental predictions
She spoke of love, the only subject of her divinations
Today, I wonder why she only guessed my inclinations
When money, family, or health are equally future questions.
She affirmed with her piercing eyes
That I would know three great passions
I paid little attention to her words
I never had esotericism in my blood.
L. was fond of all beliefs
While I was rational, swearing only by science.
L. wove a tapestry of astrology and coincidences
Closer to Descartes, I belittled this superstition without transcendence.
And yet… I think back to the words of the Gypsy
Echoing Apollinaire and his Tzigane
Whispering to me of a fabulous return
Of a passion atop an ivory tower
Third love returning from the second
And placing a bridge between L. and me in the mysteries.
